We are so proud of the work we’ve done and how much we’ve been able to impact children and their communities all over the world.
Children for Health’s outstanding global impact was recognized at the Third Sector Awards when it won the Small Charity, Big Achiever category. Clare Hanbury, founder and CEO, was at the London Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square pick up the award.
“I am honoured and humbled we won this award. I’m lucky to have spent much of my working life doing work that I love and it is more than I hoped for that our charity has received this recognition.”
MCM Net sponsored the Small Charity, Big Achiever category and the CEO, John McMahon presented the award.
“We specifically chose this award because it resonates with our own beliefs; size really does not matter, if you believe in what you are doing and are passionate about helping, a small number of people can make a profound difference.”
This award really means a lot to us. It’s so difficult for small organisations like us to ‘compete’ with the big agencies when they have professional fund-raising departments.
But we did it! We’ve proved that what we are doing is worthwhile and we are having an impact on the lives of many thousands of children.
Centre for Global Equality had this to say:
The Centre for Global Equality Members’ Impact Award 2015
MANY congratulations to CHILDREN FOR HEALTH for winning this prestigious award.
The Centre for Global Equality (previously the Humanitarian Centre) has been a hub for dedicated member organisations and individuals for several years. We are constantly inspired by the fantastic work that is being carried out in the international development sphere around Cambridge and wish to further support initiatives that are making a significant positive contribution.
The Centre for Global Equality offers its sincere congratulations to both Water Scope and Children for Health and recognises their outstanding contributions to the development field.
The simple yet effective messaging in this poster has the potential to transform lives one child at a time!
Children are the future of the world. Health education of children about disease prevention is the way to go!
As a global health professional, I fully appreciate and support all the hard work put in the creation of this malaria poster.
It’s a very good beginning towards health education of children for prevention and treatment of a terrible disease. I hope that, malaria will be eradicated in near future by effective prevention and treatment.
The potential impact of this poster on malaria control cannot be underestimated. Enlightening children on malaria prevention activities will positively influence the whole society.
Children for Health’s 10 messages series is a fantastic resource for organizations working to improve healthy behaviors and practices in low income settings globally. I have no doubt this new malaria poster will help empower children with basic knowledge on malaria, how they could protect themselves and their families, and be the agents of change in their communities helping save lives.
The short, action-oriented messages in this educational poster are valuable to promoting continual, visible communication on nutrition. These family- and community-based essential actions for good nutrition show that malnutrition must be addressed by many stakeholders.
A great visual reminder of how to avoid malnutrition. These ten messages are simple and clear enough for even young children to understand and put into practice.
The 10 Nutrition messages for children to learn and share effectively demonstrate an interactive way of understanding the fundamental key points for child nutrition. GO, GROW and GLOW for a Healthy, Strong Body and Mind clearly addressing the role of Balanced Diet in a attractive way. This poster can contribute a lot towards improving child nutrition by promoting the key messages of Infant and Young Child Feeding, Growth Monitoring and Promotion.
Deaths from diarrhoeal disease continue to devastate resource poor populations unnecessarily. Treatment with Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) is proven to save lives from dehydration but, tragically, many children do not receive it.
This poster shows children how to become “life-savers” through learning about ORS and using it for sick children in their own families and communities. The pictures and text are brilliantly clear. Their impact is likely to be enormous.
The 10 messages for Diarrhoea poster is truly a simple, life-saving tool for the prevention of damage or death from diarrhoea. It needs to be told everywhere for every age. Indeed children learn faster with pictures and this tool has what it takes to optimize basic learning about diarrhoea.
I would like to appreciate the efforts made by the group on the issue of diarrhoea. A lot of information has been gotten and I am in the field now training village health workers and other Health care personnel on diarrhoea prevention and also on hygiene and sanitation promotion.
The health aspect due to the crisis in Anglophone, Cameroon has been forgotten completely and BARUDEV is taking this as a challenge to assist communities with displaced people to improve on their health situation. Thanks!
The 10 Diarrhoea messages for children to learn & share poster is a vital public health intervention for the prevention of diarrhoea, especially in children. Both the text and pictures convey the messages clearly, concisely, and in a child friendly manner. I believe it also has the potential to effect the desired impact it is designed for. Another thing I like about the poster is that it can be used by anybody; parents, teachers and even health workers, to teach children.
As a health professional, clear accurate and simple messages are essential. My recent research in London indicates that many parents were unsure about some aspects of oral health especially in regards to young children, the Children for Health oral health poster is a wonderful way to share essential facts and advice. I especially love all the ideas for parents and teachers such as the rainbow stick. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much for sharing the oral health information. It is really useful! I will disseminate this information to African chief dental officers in the Ministries of Health. It is really appreciated.
It is hoped that the messages in the poster will be picked by health and education authorities in those countries where oral hygiene is a problem. But more importantly, by schools and communities that can take these messages and put them into practical practice. School and community oral health activities are essential to install correct toothbrushing behaviour into the routine habits of especially young children. This poster will help to do this.
The diabetes poster looks lovely, and reads very well. Great job integrating so much input--it's not easy to find the right balance between useful information and accessibility, while also thinking about the capacity of children (which is bigger than we may think, but not enough to justify textbook level!).
As always, Children for Health continues to generate excellent healthcare resources in an easy to understand format. Thank you for including me in the review process. I will be including this poster in our resource section on our YouLearnAcademies.org website. Thank you very much.
Several groups in South Sudan have been using your downloadable materials for children with great enthusiasm after I told them how to get hold of them! Well done!
The immunisation poster is such a fantastic tool for teachers and students and healthcare providers as it has the messages/questions and activities all in one poster! Great visuals.
I have to say that the immunisation poster is beautiful. There is nothing to change. It is detailed and easy to follow.
In 2025, Ngwenya Central Primary School in Ngwenya village, with the valued support of Children for Health, successfully implemented a whole-school anti-bullying initiative that engaged over 700 learners.
Through this project, children took the lead in developing practical tools and solutions to prevent and reduce bullying in both the school and the wider community. Their voices, ideas, and leadership have been central to the programme’s success.
We are sincerely grateful to Children for Health for their partnership and support. The impact has been significant and lasting — we are seeing improved learner behaviour, stronger peer relationships, greater parental involvement, and a more positive, safe learning environment. This initiative has strengthened not only our school culture but also the wellbeing of the wider community.
The A Mazing Treasures storybook was a truly inspiring read. The story captures the essence of what it means to be inclusive and highlights the importance of creating a welcoming environment for all individuals, regardless of their background.
What I particularly loved about the story is the relatable characters and their real-life struggles with diversity and inclusivity.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Inclusion Story to anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of diversity and inclusion. It's a powerful reminder that we are all in this together and that we have the power to make a positive impact in the world.
The HIV/AIDS poster and storybook was a wonderful project from the start. So encouraging to read how many times the two-sided poster has been downloaded. I really like the 10 drawings and captions – nothing intimidating or scary, just some very basic and important information delivered in a non-judgemental and friendly way.
Ah goodness me, ‘The Girl Who Was Pushed Outside’ – absolutely brilliantly written and so very true. Every school should have a copy of this book, not just for the information and guidance it contains, but so that every child understands and develops empathy for other children and, in turn, adults.
I am a paediatrician with over 35 years experience. The Summer Institute of Linguistics works in many minority languages on 6 continents and over 90 different countries. Among our many activities we promote literacy in the vernacular and have a library of books that can easily be translated and used.
Many of your child health education posters contain excellent information that could be easily adapted to a book for our Bloom Library and made available for translation into languages with limited access to health education.
Thank you for your hard work with these materials - I have used them in my teaching of health care workers in Papua New Guinea and think that they could be wonderfully used in the Bloom Library.
As someone who deeply appreciates the incredible work that NGOs like yours do every day, I want to encourage you to continue making a positive difference in the world.
I know that the challenges you face can sometimes seem overwhelming, but please remember that every small step you take towards your goals is an important one. Your hard work and dedication are truly making a difference in the lives of the people and communities you serve.
It's often easy to feel discouraged when the problems we face seem so daunting, but I believe that your organization has the ability to make a real impact. Your tireless efforts are helping to build a better future for all of us, and that is truly something to be proud of.
So please, keep pushing forward and know that your work is appreciated and valued. You are making a real difference, and I have no doubt that you will continue to do so for many years to come.
Thank you for everything you do.
I was thrilled to learn more about the transformative work you’re leading at Children for Health! Your achievements from empowering 200k+ families to the national adoption of your nutrition program in Mozambique are truly inspiring. It’s clear how your decades of experience in child-centered health education are driving tangible global impact.
Your mission resonates deeply with me. As someone who has championed inclusive education and resilience-building, I’ve seen firsthand how empowering children as agents of change can accelerate progress toward SDG 4. Your innovative approach—equipping children to share health knowledge within their communities—feels like a natural alignment with my passion for bridging education gaps through participatory, inclusive models.
The key messages are very helpful and we can adapt this and spread the messages in our various schools and communities.
We can put the messages on posters and flip charts for distribution to our target schools and communities.
We can also develop the messages into radio jingles for airing in our community radio stations.
The messages will be helpful in the fight against COVID.
We love hearing from our community! Contact us at admin@childrenforhealth.org
